So, I'm about 200 pages into Stephenie Meyers' New Moon, the sequel to Twilight. Gosh this is a totally different book to the first one, isn't it?
Don't check the comments if you don't want to be spoiled.

In Twilight, all the angst was because she wanted Edward and couldn't really have him - but *at least* he was there. In New Moon, I've spent 200pp with the whole angst of him not being there at all and her killing time. And ... it was horribly reminiscent of my own Dec and Jan!
This is why I LOVED New Moon, and why I'm glad I read it first, because I don't think I would have been as enamoured by the first one. The heartbreaking reality of the emotion was absolutely gut churning. I chewed my nail for Bella, and cried with her. It's the best emotional writing I think I've ever read. That might just be me though... Tehani
The heartbreaking reality of the emotion in New Moon, you mean? The whole being deserted by the person she loves, because he loves her and is no good for her?
Why don't you think you would have enjoyed watching them fall in love first? I find this book so much more gruelling because of that. But then I might be relating too much at the moment.
